Throughout New York, the rights of people of color are often compromised or ignored. Over 80% of New York City’s misdemeanor arrests in 2018 involved people of color. We have to preserve the legacy of my father, Eric Garner, Kalief Browder, and many others that the system failed.
The children of New York are our most precious asset and it is our moral responsibility to provide them with the best education we can afford. The quality of public school education today will directly influence the health of the economy tomorrow.
The very people that helped to make this community a destination for others are the very ones who are being driven out. I believe that it should be affordable for our seniors to continue living where they have worked and raised families.
